Living in Concord

What to know before you buy

Most new communities sit on Concord's northwest side near Poplar Tent Road and I-85, or to the south toward Harrisburg and Midland along NC-49 and I-485. Off-peak, Uptown Charlotte is roughly 25–30 minutes away, and University City and the airport are reachable via I-85 and I-485.

Day to day, residents have Concord Mills, the Afton Ridge shopping area and downtown Concord's restaurants close by, along with Charlotte Motor Speedway events and county parks such as Frank Liske Park. Many new neighborhoods add their own pools, clubhouses and trails.

For 2025–26, a home inside Concord city limits pays the Cabarrus County rate of $0.576 plus the city's $0.42 per $100 of assessed value, about $1.00 combined. HOA dues in the communities that publish them run roughly $100–$250 per month, and builders are currently advertising rate buydowns and price reductions on many quick move-in homes.
